First row & workout after a 2 week layoff

Post by Ombrax » October 6th, 2019, 11:29 am

I was traveling for two weeks and unfortunately not able to do any significant exercising whatsoever. Friday was my first day back in the gym. It is now Sunday morning.

A few things of note:

1) I seem to have lost more in my cardio than strength. I decided to take it easy and just do 3k on the erg. It was as if someone had messed with the drag factor and I was actually at DF of 150 instead of the indicated 120 (lever in it's typical position for me, so the issue was at my end, not the with the rower). The handle felt so much "heavier" and I ended up with an average pace of about 3 seconds / 500m slower than I typically would have a few weeks ago for that same distance.

2) I was able to complete all my other core and strength exercises (except for push-ups) with the usual number of sets and reps. Strangely, the Extended Leg Raises seemed easier than I remember them. Everything thing else was a bit harder, but manageable.

3) Overall I'm a bit more sore than usual but nothing horrible. However, for some reason, my quads are really sore. I don't know if it was the rowing, goblet squats, or something else that did it. It will be interesting to see how things go when I go to the gym later today.
