Hi There
I'm new to all of this and would like to track my progress with a Garmin or similar activity tracking watch. Can anyone recommend one? Ideally one that links up with the erg to share data (if that's possible?).
Thanks in advance
Happy Rower

Re: Best watch for rowing?
Hooking up to the PM is problematic. Older Garmin watches supported it natively. Newer Garmin watches don't.
There is a third party IQ app for newer Garmin watches, called ErgIQ, which is supposed to be able to connect to the PM, but it is not without problems.

Thanks for your response Allan, that's really helpful.

You might try linking ergdata to Strava and then linking strava into an Apple Watch.

Re: Best watch for rowing?
I use a Garmin Instinct watch. But i bought a separate heart monitor from Garmin (chest belt).
Once the heart monitor is coupled to the watch it connects automatically each time you start wearing it.
Heart rates from the instinct were much to low while rowing. Resting rate was OK.
The heart-rate monitor is a dual one: uses ANT+ and bluetooth to transmit the data.
Now i do as follows:
start wearing the Garmin (dual) heart rate belt
connect the heart rate monitor-belt via ANT to my PM5
start ergdata on my smartphone
activae wireless connection on PM5
start workout ....
After workouts: syncing Ergdata my data syncs with Concept2 logbook and Strava (works super after setup).
The Instinct watch has also gps which is super for outdoor activities like walking and hiking.
You can use it to track rowing activity (without PM5 or Ergdata) but the ergdata app on the smartphone is much better and accurate.
