Hydrow

Post by Ron Ginsberg » June 18th, 2019, 10:28 am

I just came upon an article about Best Buy featuring a new indoor rower in their stores. The "Hydrow' will be shipping soon. It is sort of a Peleton like device for rowers. It looks interesting. As a dedicated concept 2 user since the early 90's, first on a model B and now on a Model D, I was still intrigued. The Hydrow features Peleton like features. A large video screen, instructors doing on water work outs set to music with voice over encouragement, leader boards, etc. On occasion, I use my daughter's Peleton bike (I cycle as well), and I like the experience. Perhaps concept 2 can get ahead of this curve by developing their own video screen to be used in conjunction with the existing Model D instead of the current performance monitor. The subscription service could be an option, hopefully at much lower cost. What do you all think? As I recall many years ago, in the 90's Concept 2 had pc hook-ups and I know there is third party software, but nothing integrated and company produced.

Seems to be just like the indoor cycling peleton machine!! By that i mean Wayyyy overpriced, and most likely will have to subscribe for $58 per month or whatever it is, for some instructors to yell at you on a screen.

Since Concept2 own and run this forum, discussion of Brand-X rowers isn't permitted unless it bears a direct relationship to Concept2 equipment.
