Anyone got some C2 hand pads they want to sell?
Preferably the slightly larger red ones, rather than the dark blue, but all considered. £16 on fleabay seems alot.

You really need to give us some clues as to where in the World you're located. This is a Worldwide forum and shipping hand pads to Outer Mongolia may be more expensive than the value of the pads.

The UK of course...as Al Murray once said "God's country...otherwise why else when you look at a globe would he have put it in the middle at the top?"

There's no "of course" on a Worldwide forum.

I'm joking. OK, anyone in the UK got any C2 hand pads they want to sell a bit more cheaply than I can get on ebay please?Citroen wrote:There's no "of course" on a Worldwide forum.

I got a pair of £12 weight lifting gloves from an amazon prime re-seller, they are good, on longer rows they get sweaty but they have done 500k with few signs of wear and wash fine on cold setting in the machine. Before I got them I had callouses forming on my hands even from 5k rows, since I got them they have reduced and my hands are soft.

Ideally, you should be rowing with bare hands. The blisters etc are all part and parcel of it for developing tough resistance skin in these areas. (just like when first start playing guitar... you wouldn't wear gloves to play guitar) I've had all the erging blisters never ever once have i wore pads/gloves... man up ffs

Re: Anyone got some C2 hand pads they want to sell?
Why is rowing with bare hands ideal? I can't see any relationship between rowing and playing a guitar. I can understand why someone would not want to wear gloves to play the guitar. Finger placement is quite precise and gloves would impede that precision. Calluses toughen the fingers and are necessary to play a guitar well. However, developing calluses and blisters are not a necessary part of rowing, at least for most people.Anth_F wrote:Ideally, you should be rowing with bare hands. Rowing consists of nothing more than holding onto a handle. It's not very precise at all. If someone wants to use their bare hands while rowing and cause blisters and calluses to form, that's their choice. I prefer to wear my 3/4 finger length weight lifting gloves and avoid all that. Macho? Maybe not. Sensible? To me, absolutely.
Re: Anyone got some C2 hand pads they want to sell?
True enough for erging. For rowing, i.e. OTW rowing, it makes a big difference. The hands get a lot of feedback from the oar handle, like the errant wave that tries to wrest the handle out of your hand. The use of gloves dampens this communication between hand and handle.sekitori wrote: Rowing consists of nothing more than holding onto a handle. It's not very precise at all. Since I'm an erger and not an OTW rower, I thank you your giving me information I knew nothing about. I will use that info the next time I row on the water. Although that probably will be never, I still appreciate your comment. Actually, rowing a single scull sounds as if it could be quite enjoyable. Since coordinating the use of two oars seems to be far more complex than pulling on a handle with a chain attached, I probably would spend my first time on one going around in circles.
I will now amend my previous statement to read, "Erging consists of nothing more than holding onto a handle".
Re: Anyone got some C2 hand pads they want to sell?
Try cutting a pair of soft "Memory Foam" insoles to the size of your palm. Cost is about £1 and very effective. Use the fabric side to the handle and foam to your palm. My hands have softened with age (and the washing up), and the insoles work fine.

Re: Anyone got some C2 hand pads they want to sell?
Of course there is no relationship between playing guitar and erging The part that does relate tho is allowing the natural process of toughening up your skin in areas of the hands that get used constantly (like when holding/pulling the handle on an erg) It's ideal because you don't need to rely on nancy boy pads every time you do an erg session!!!sekitori wrote:Why is rowing with bare hands ideal?
