1,000,000m charity challenge question

Post by team2bfit » July 5th, 2014, 4:24 am

Hi all, we are a gym looking at running a fundraising 1,000,000m for McMillan cancer research later this month. The idea is to get our members to come down over the course of the day and row whatever distance they can on one of our 10 rowers (all model D's with PM3/4's) We were wondering if there is any way of linking the rowers together that would show the accumulative amount of meters elapsed or remaining? The only software we have used is the Venue race application which doesn't support this feature.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section

If you don't figure something out let us know. I don't think it would be difficult to create a program that displays a countdown on a programmable sign or a TV.

You should wire all machines to one laptop (using USB hubs if needed). Then run the free venue racing software. You should be able to run a 1,000,000 metre team race. You may need to borrow some extra PM3/PM4s to have a "second team". Venue racing doesn't like single entry races.

If you can tell me where in the UK you're based I may be able to come and help. Or send a priv message and I'll let you know my phone number.

Thank you very much for the reply guys! We thought about doing the venue racing application but from what I can tell you can only do either pairs, fours or eights and we won't be able to get a hold of any more pm3's to trick the software into thinking there's another team :(

We are based in Newcastle

Can you not run it as a 500,000m race on eight ergos wired as two teams? Each ergo would row approx 125,000m.
Have you looked at whether RowPro can do what you need? http://www.digitalrowing.com

Being an exiled Geordie I'd have loved to help but I'll never get the trip up there past the household finance director.
