Rowing shoes

Post by Robert bowes » August 25th, 2013, 5:10 pm

Can you tell me if rowing shoes are an improvement for indoor rowing on the c2? I found a very nice Nike shoe online.
Thanks.......Scott

No. Nothing comes to mind. Are you looking to solve an issue or just want to make sure you aren't missing out on something. I don't even have laces in the running shoes I erg in.

Just old running shoes that are not toatally stuffed but have past their use by date for running in are ideal.

I don't lace all the way to the top and also do not do them up tight as it can lead to foor pains.

I can see some people not even lacing them up, you just need something to stop the toe strap biting you and a bit of comfort at the heel.

Those cheap off brand canvas top slip ons from WalMart or Payless (under $10) or a pair of house brand water shoes from a big box sports store work very well and last years.

I have a nerve disorder in my feet and I need soft shoes for anything. What I do is I strap a pair of slip-on Crocs to the machine. My heels are free to move as needed, and my feet stay down tight without discomfort. I can easily remove me feet to stretch if needed too. While I am not sure if the extra softness in the sole hinders my performance as I am in it for the long haul (love marathons) and not sprinting, I know my feet are the last thing on my mind while rowing (which to me is awesome!)
