Reckless Rowathon and Silent Warrior Scholarship

Anyone looking for a challenge next year? An opportunity to help someone out?

The Reckless Rowathon was held Nov 10, 2012 in Plano, IL. I rowed this event virtually on an erg in Cincinnati, OH. The sponsor is Reckless Crossfit. The marathon distance can be rowed individually or in teams of up to four individuals. The event is a fundraiser for the Silent Warrior Scholarship fund which raises money to provide scholarships for immediate family of those who have served in US Marine Corps Reconnaissance Units or the Marine Corps Special Operations Command. This year, the event raised over $6,000. Planning for next years event begins in January.

I rowed the full marathon distance and cut 4 minutes off my time from May. I attribute 90% of the improvement to the motivation of rowing for a worthy cause.
