Interesting to read Xeno. So many people train hard and sacrifice much to win that Gold Medal yet only one person every four years actually succeeds. It seems entirely possible after reading your blog that a negative experience was needed to add the final piece to a complicated puzzle that was solved, resulting in a Gold Medal.
Who knows? Maybe Porter was tired and spaced out, or had just had a negative encounter with someone else. You weren't responsible for his reaction, but you took lemons and made sweet lemonade.
