Hello,
I have not yet purchased a Concept 2 machine, but am in the process of looking into doing so. My wife and I live in British Columbia, Canada. If we were to buy a new rower directly from Concept, they would ship it to us using UPS. Both UPS and Concept have assured me that I will not need to pay any duty. I will need to pay brokerage fees and applicable taxes, but no duty.
I was looking online at an ad for what they say is an almost new, model D with the PM4 monitor. When I contacted the seller, they said they had to pay almost $500 in duty.
Is there anyone else out there, who lives in Canada, who has ordered a rower directly from Concept? Could you please tell me your experience and whether or not you had to pay duty on your purchase.
Thanks so much.
P.S. - It is the Model D with the PM4 that I want to get. The used one for sale is not a great deal if there is not any duty charged for new ones, but if indeed there is a $500 charge for duty, then the price is a good one.
Paying Duty on Concept 2 Coming Into Canada
Re: Paying Duty on Concept 2 Coming Into Canada
I bought the same model direct from Concept a few months ago. Paid CAN$225 to UPS, all inclusive (taxes and brokerage) for delivery in Ontario. It's worth it buying direct - and even better, probably, if you drive over there and collect it yourself.

Re: Paying Duty on Concept 2 Coming Into Canada
Well, I ended up ordering a rower from Concept, and just received it about one hour ago. Haven't even opened the box yet, but am about to do so. What I wanted to let you know however, is that I did not pay duty. I paid brokerage fees and taxes, but no duty. So if you are in Canada, and looking for a used Concept Rower, and the seller tries and tells you they paid duty, they are either not telling you the truth, or for some reason they paid when they should not have.
