Hey all,
I'm just ordered a C2 with PM3 today!
I'm pretty inexperienced as a rower and I'm looking forward to the new challenge. I've rowed a little in the past at a gym I went to.
I've been doing crossfit and needed a rower so I could actually do some as Rx'ed. After doing the research it seems the C2 is the ONLY way to go.
I've been perusing the site all day and I'm impressed with the amount of information available.
I hope to learn some techniques!

The C2 is a good Erg as is the PM3 monitor. The main advantage of the C2 for me is the RowPro software you can run on the PM3 for online rowing.

The tach pickup on a model C is a sensor mounted on the frame behind the flywheel. It is basically a 100 Ohm coil with a magnet in it. The Flywheel has 3 magnets that induce a very small voltage into the coil as they pass. The signal produced looks very much the same as an ECG signal. The level is in the millivolts and you need an oscilloscope to see it.
There is room on the C2 to add a second sensor on the oppositie side. The cable is just long enough to go the extra distance. The new holes must be in exactly the right place so the sensor lines up with the magnets.
I run two alloy straps off the side of my PM2+ to support the PM3 so I can use both monitors at the same time.
The whole set-up helps me test the PM's I repair as well as giving me the additional projected distance/time at the finish and drag factor on the PM2+ when using RowPro as the lower half of the PM3 monitor makes way for compeditors ahead and behind you.

Could a digital tachometer be hooked up to a pm3 this way?
