HELLO THERE!

Post by alkem » August 10th, 2008, 6:40 pm

Apologies to my fellow Eh Team! members. I finally got on the erg again yesterday after a pitifully long absence. Nothing like watching the Olympics to get you pumped again. lol Good to be back and hopefully checking in regularly and contributing to the Coastal Row again.

Stay inspired!

Minto Suites - Ottawa

Post by ckaiserca » September 26th, 2008, 9:44 pm

My wife and I just got back from a short trip to Ottawa. Turns out that the Minto Suites where we stayed had a fitness centre with a Model C. It was a nice surprise, as it was not listed on the online "rower finder."

During my second workout in the centre, a guy came in who seemed to want to use the rower, and the posted policy was 20 minutes max on the cardio machines, as I was already up to over 10K and 45+ minutes, I asked if he wanted to use the machine, and he asked me how far I usually rowed. When I told him that I often times rowed 15k+ meters, he seemed shocked, and started asking these probing questions. . .

I think he doubted me.

They all do.

It's what happens when a "fly and die" guy meets someone who likes to do more than 5k.

Just show them the log-card.

Yeah, I found it kind of funny that when I was checking the memory on the PM2, that the totals ran like 475, 200, 515. . .

No log-card for the PM2 on the C, but my 15K workout from the previous day was still in the memory for him to see if he cared to check.

Help, I have been held captive by a bunch of pirates off the coast of Africa for almost 7 months.
Our Eh!Team trireme is still in good shape. I should be able to fix up the leak and post our mile in Google Earth.

Any guesses on where our meters from May of 2008 to Dec 2008 will take usÉ

My guess is almost around Africa and into the Mediterranean.

(Our route is around the cape, thru the canal, around the coast of the med and then back around arabia, india, etc.

Keep on rowin`, eh.

Well, I have got the Eh!Team trireme patched up for the New Year.

You hosers have been rowing, eh!

We have completed over 113 MILLION meters since starting the row on February 25, 2007.

Our boat is presently in the Arabian Gulf.

We rowed from Ireland, across the Atlantic to North America, down the east coast of the Americas to Tierra Del Fiego, then back the West coast of America, across the Arctic Archipelago, around Greenland, back across the Atlantic to Africa, around Africa, around the Mediterranean see and now around the middle east.

That is a lot of rowin', hosers.

For those of you who might be interested the total length of the route is 203,549,258 meters.

You can follow our progress in google earth by going to:
http://67.199.38.245/c2coastal
and clicking on the picture of the globe.

Or just follow the link below and click on the picture of the globe.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Do you hosers want me to sign us up for the JanuaryVirtualChallenge? It is simple enough to do and if there is enough interest from the Eh!Team, I am certainly willing to do it.

I have made some modifications to our rows in Google Earth:
  • The Eh!Team logo now shows up. (Michelle Alkerton designed it)
There is a white line making our path easier to follow
We are now going around Antarctica also (sorry)
Total meters and percentages now show up in the bubble
We just went rowing past the Burj Hotel Apparently it's not a bad little place to stay.

But we have to
Keep on rowin', eh.

Ok, hosers, we are now signed up for the JVC 2009.

You have to sign up for the JVC even if you are member of the Eh!Team

Follow the Concept 2 Instructions and as it says:
Join Eh!Team.

Keep on rowin, eh.

Our Eh!Team trireme has just rowed past the Pakistani port of Gwadar. According to the Gwadar link, Alexander the Great's Navy was rowing past here a few years ago. That would have been about 330 BCE, so 2300 years ago.

It looks like an interesting place.

Canadian Indoor Championships NEED 3 for a 4!

Post by ckaiserca » January 17th, 2009, 4:44 pm

Ok folks! I have registered for the 2009 Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships. I will be rowing in the Men's Senior Masters 2K race as well as the Men's Recreational 1K race.

I would really like to try the club crew event, but I need three other people willing to row the 1K race with me. I am willing to pay for the boat ($40.00), but I need you to commit before the 25th of January.

My times are all off due to a prolonged illness this winter, but I am working out as close to daily as I can, so I promise to be in the best shape possible for me on race day! Come on Eh! Team. Let's get a four together and try and win something pretty (plus you get an official CIRC 25th Anniversary Umbrella).

In Crew events, competitors will sit side by side, and each stroke is averaged toward one boat (e.g. A 2:00 split and a 1:30 split results in a 1:45 split.).

We have made it around the point of India and around the country of Sri Lanka

It looks like we could slow down and take a little dip.

After almost 2 years of rowing, our Eh!Team trireme is slightly over half way around the coastal route. Who's idea was this??

I am going to try the Western Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships in Vancouver on February 7. I would love to meet any other Eh!Team members that will be there.

Linda is coming down with me.

Keep on rowin', eh!
