August Series Results & Comments

Post by sledgehammer » August 2nd, 2006, 9:30 pm

Well, a bunch of us got the first event of the August Series on RowPro completed today (a 5k). It was a bit of a brutual event for competitiors on the east coast of the US as we are suffering through a heat wave. Doup P wins the erging in hottest room award with a measured temp over 100 degrees F.

We hope more will folks join in for future events. Remember, we will through out one "worst event" at the end of the series, and we will also keep track of "avg" points per event, so it can still be fun to join in.

Prelim calcualtions below. Please let me know if I have goofed anything up. Also, if others have rowed 5k (or want to row one tomorrow) and want to be included just email me your time/age/gender/heavy-light status, and I will add you to the results.

Well done everyone!

Best, Ernie

Aug Series Sat race

Post by sledgehammer » August 5th, 2006, 11:53 am

Had to row earlier today due to family commitments. Managed a 18:10 5k which was 3 secs better than Wed. Doesn't look like RP saved it though. Hope you guys will trust me....

Anyone else doing a 5k this weekend post it here (if it doesn't get save on RP). I will do the math on Sun.

Hope to join in the Sun 5k HC but will just be cruising.

Good luck everyone. Ernie

yes there were 2 others but it was confusing because the names in the chat screen are different than at the race ready screen. For example my user name in Rowpro is one thing (my real name), my name in the chat screen is MSI and my name on the race ready is Evaluation User (I purchased Rowpro in the past and recently paid for and installed the upgrade to v2.003). So the bottom line is I can't remember who they were!

Aug Series Standings After 2 Events

Post by sledgehammer » August 6th, 2006, 9:31 pm

As they say on the Nascar channel..."A wild weekend of racing". Some straight up 5ks, some handicapped 5ks. All in all, a modest victory against father time as the Aug Series participants burned a total of 3648 calories racing (roughly a couple of McDonalds big macs, fries and a shake).

Here are the results of this weekend's 5k racing. (all scores net 5k times):

Tom B 18.25.5
Ron C 23:07.1
Jan P 23:04.3
Marilyn D 21:49.9
Doug P 21:15.6
Graham F 19:07.7
Ernie P 18:07.6

(Hopefully, I did not forget anyone. My apologies if I did. Please set me straight and I will update the results. Also, if you did a 5k post the time and I will add you to the list.)

So updating the standings after 2 events...(assuming my calculations are correct. Please let me know if you find errors)....Drum roll please......

I did the 30min late row with Peter from Australia. He says he is not racing. I did 7554m for the row.

If you are giving out nonrowing related awards this week, I will note that my pre-race ritual consisted of a large bowl of pasta with hot Italian sausage, and then I went out and mowed the lawn.

Thanks Michael. It would have been one ugly scene if I ate hot Italian sausage before cranking out 7500 meters....

Ernie,

For Saturday's handicap race, are we supposed to email you our PB ahead of time or do we just deal with that during the before race chat?
