Hello all, I got into erging last winter and have progressed to OTW rowing as of two months ago. Yesterday was my first regatta and I rowed in a novice 4 and a rec mens 8 and overall it was a blast! There is PLENTY of room for improvement to be sure.
Like I said, I'm a newby and don't have that much experience OTW, so I'm not sure if what happened to me yesterday was common or not. While paddling back to the dock after both of my races, my entire left leg from my hip to my toes fell completely asleep....so much so that when i stood up on the dock and put some weight on the leg I fell both times! After about 15 seconds, my leg felt fine again, but it was a very strange feeling to say the least. I doubt that this is anything serious, but is definitely something I would like to avoid in the future. It has never happened before during practice and I really wonder why it happened twice yesterday. This info might help as well- I'm 25 yrs old and 6'7", my shoes in both boats fit fine so that's not the problem, and I row port. Any feedback?? Thanks in advance!
First OTW Regatta yesterday
here is some advice
Try pulling harder so that your body hurts so much you forget you have legs
Re: First OTW Regatta yesterday
The problem is obvious - you just didn't go all out in the races. Had you done so and truly emptied the tank, there's no way you would have been able to stand, problem solvedsaucecmu40 wrote:so much so that when i stood up on the dock and put some weight on the leg I fell both times!
