Hi All,
Anyone training with the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints in mind?
https://log.concept2.com/challenges/indoor-sprints
I've not trained for a 1k before, so looking forward to this.

Yeah I'll give it a go, but I won't be doing very much specific training for it. All I'd want is a PB

I get that it's a bit odd to train for such an event, but I definitely need competitions to get me off the sofa. I've tried training for health, rather than performance, but it's boring and makes me hungry.
Not sure how to train for a 1k though. Going for a wolverine style approach with shorter long sessions and more intervals. Currently thinking I'd like to break 3:20.

I took 2nd in the event (50-55) 2 years ago and fourth last year and plan to do it again this year. I may focus more on this than 2K and WRIC as the qualification process is odd this year for the WRIC. Anyway, in the past 2 years I just used my 2K training to be ready but this year I may do more shorter intervals for prep like 10x250 with 1' R and such.

You're not wrong on the WRICH qualification....even worse for LWT's as we have to video ourselves being weighed no more than 2hrs before a race 2km. We have to show that the scales aren't rigged by weighing marked weight plates or similar too. I'm still planning on trying to do it though and may combine with the Canadian Indoor Rowing Champs.

I may try the Canadian too but think I need to win it to qualify. The whole 2 per country thing for the "open" qualifying is making it really hard, especially in my age group we have a guy (Andrew Benko) who is light years ahead of everyone else and that's one spot taken for sure.

Are C2 giving medals to the top 3 in each age category like usual?

I have had an email from Time-Team Regatta Systems saying ‘Your profile for 2021 World Rowing Indoor Championships has been rejected’
Seems to be from a genuine email address. Anyone else had one?

Well, I broke 3:20 (3:18.5), so I'm pleased. But it turns out that I'm 41s behind the winner at 2:37.5! Insane!

That 2:37.5 would be a new world record right?

Yes that’s correct JMac. It was rowed by Maciej Maciejewski, breaking Sam loch’s record.

Curiously, the time has disappeared from the results list... Make of that what you will.

Just seen that it’s been reinstated, very strange

Wow, went and looked and it was showing again - that is weird. There was a guy in my age group that posted some ridiculous time (like 2:04) and I was happy they didn't ever have it for the WRVIS so I still got 1st but it still shows in the season rankings so I show 2nd...odd.
