Loren Howard - 100m, 1min and 500m Open World Records

Post by JMac » June 28th, 2018, 4:36 pm

This guy just set/equalled all three sprint World Records in the space of a few months

100m - 12.6
1 min - 430m
500m - 1:10.5 (equal WR)

500m record is some 21 years old I believe.

Unbelievable power!

Yeah I think he has only been erging for six months, but he is a tank of a man. Very suited to short sprints and probably will go faster given more experience

The 100m at least was retweeted by Concept 2, so presumably had been accepted as a WR.

I'd love to see the 500m record be beaten.

Would anyone happen to know his height and weight? He doesn't appear to be particularly huge, but certainly generates tremendous power!

Thanks Henry. Yup big guy for sure. I'm surprised at his back squat and deadlift though at the bottom of that page...seems incongruent with his performance on the erg.

Numbers from 2013, but yes those are not super strong.

They might be Crossfit specific PRs i.e. only lifts done during a Crossfit workout? Just a guess, but I'd be surprised if a guy who weighs ~115kg and is as good a C2 sprinter as he is hasn't deadlifted more than ~240kg (I was friends with an 85kg guy who deadlifted 240kg).

Don,t think so. Think they are outdated I think.

Funny is also that 400m run, 61 seconds. Shows how specific running is. And how little relation there is between running, weights, rowing.

Re weight, deadlift. Height and body proportions matter a lot. Deadlift is the least depending on bodyweight.
