Online Rowing Competition - Rowd Royalty

Post by cshoward » December 30th, 2016, 3:42 pm

WARNING: I am promoting a competition that I produce and is sponsored by Concept 2. Thank you for reading!
January 5 - January 30: http://rowdroyalty.com/

This competition been a blast every year. It started as a fun "intra-gym" competition to validate bragging rights for "the King & Queen" of the Erg. 3 years ago, we opened it up to the world and participation has been growing worldwide. The entry fee is $20.

It's 4 weeks long and includes 1 workout announced each week. We are also giving away a Concept 2 Model D EVERY week in a raffle. To participate in the raffle, you have to complete the weekly workout.

The workouts will include a traditional rowing distance workout plus a few unique "training style" workouts that will test your skills, stamina, endurance and self-management.

We have age groups and ..."height" groups. We get some flak for the "height" categories, but this is not an officially sanctioned event. In our weekly workouts, we believe that height has more influence on performance than weight.

So, if you'd like to break up your training routine and put your rowing skills to the test, join us on January 5th! Who knows, you might win a new Erg. Info & reg: http://rowdroyalty.com/

I "think" I've signed up. The web site and the Conquest Events web site are not real good with feedback or confirmation emails. It seemed to take my credit card info, but I'm not sure...??

Anyway, assuming it gets sorted out, and I can figure out how to use it by Thursday, it looks fun. The chance to win a model D is worth it.

Anyone else going to participate?

Post your experience with the registration procedure, and the workouts once they start.

I was wondering about the confirmation also. I emailed and asked and they said they are not sending out confirmation emails this year.

I did it last year and it was very fun. The scoring is a little weird and the burpees are stupid, but it's definitely worth the $20.

I sent both RowdRoyalty and Conquest Events emails about their screwy websites. Got polite answers but no solutions.

Thinking it must have been ME, I tried registering again with the same result: Entered my CC info, hit "pay" and poof, nothing! Still says I owe, so I'm done. So far my CC hasn't been charged but who knows where that info got sent. Twice! No error messages, or help of any kind.

It allows me to log in, and my name is on the list, but I can't enter any results ("your registration is not complete").

So I guess I'll monitor the results and just compare my time in the workouts to those that have managed to get in. So far no one in the 60+ list has entered any results.

Dang, I was looking forward to winning a model D in the raffle. Oh well...
