AIRC Nov 2016

The Australian Indoor Rowing Champs has been revived by Rowing Australia which is really interesting as there is typically little interest in the erg by OTW people.
They are trying something different too - 20 venues have put up their hands around Australia to host an event in November. It seems that about 500 people have entered altogether - way more than we would have seen at one race venue. Some of the venues are a bit patchy but promising start. 2k/1k/500/1 minute racing. The overall race results and winners won't be known until after the last event on Nov30.
Results will be posted http://www.rowingaustralia.com.au/14/11 ... pionships/
There may be a very fast 66yo doing one today in Bendigo in country Victoria named Phil Carman - he has a 6:46 under his belt this season so interesting to see how he goes.
Had a go today after racing last week in the Masters games. Venue was a girls school with about 50 high school rowers 12-17yo! plus 5 "outsiders". main goal to improve on last week's 2k but did the other races as well. Only about 30 minutes between races so no way to really do well on the others so will do them again on the 30th.
2k = 6:48.4 @1:42.1 - improved on last weeks 6:49.5 and lowered the AR so pleased with that - this will be my seeding time for Boston
1k = 3:23.8 @1:41.9 - just held it steady with a bit of a dying finish!
500m @1:34.5 - no legs for the 500 at the moment - it's a very different beast
1 minute = 339m @1:28.3 (saw some 1:22s so Ok I guess)
