Here's the chance for all you big guys who aren't into the 2K racing (and the LWTs too  ) to get a piece of the competitive action. It's a 1K virtual race with medals and everything. You just need to pull your best 1000m piece between March 11 and 13th and post your time. http://www.worldrowing.com/events/2016- ... nformation

Also, lookout for Indoor rowing being included in the 2017 World Games in Poland.

I think it's great that Word Rowing is now recognizing the indoor sport more. Great way to bring more folks into it.

For the World Rowing 1k event, Concept2 is involved. http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/r ... rch%201113

So there is no question about broadening the range of machines involved. They are all C2 machines. I am surprised that the Model A is also on the list. I don't think that it is included in the machines allowed for records. The dynamic and machines are, as usual, not included in the 1k event. For some odd reason, the list of accepted machines, models A-E, is followed by the letters SUI. Does anyone have any idea what this stands for in this context? It does not show up on the website that I posted above, but it is on the Worldrowing site that Marsh Creek Sculler posted.

Beyond that, the inclusion of indoor rowing in the World Games brings out a broader question: Can this kind of venue include a sport that requires equipment made by just one company? Nothing against Concept 2 implied here. I have been using their machines for 25 years and I think that they are great. The point is that such a move is unprecedented and I can picture other manufacturers raising the specter of unfairness. Just a thought and I am curious to know what others on the forum think.

Thats a point Bob, difficult to get around, c2 won,t give away there concept, very elite event though, with as always the stupid country dividing, no not the best should be there, but all countries. So crap.
That online 1k should get a good outcome, maybe some very serious results, deep below 2.50.
