Maybe we need a new metric at the Crash B: watts/kg of body weight. Jamesq had a rule of thumb for that.

I've been enjoying this thread! Looking at your icon list, Rick, I was reminded about an incident I had with Bob Spousta. I rowed with the Occoquan Boat Club years ago, while he was the coach at George Mason. I talked with him and managed to get a spot for my boat on the GM trailer up to the Head of the Schuylkill one year. I raced my (slow) race and was paddling back, which involved crossing the course. I was a little too close to the buoys, and Bob was cutting the course real tight, going fast. We collided right in front of the crowds. I bailed into the river to get us untangled, and he went on to take 3rd (rather than the expected 1st). Talk about embarrassing! He was very gracious and cool about it as we loaded our boats back on the trailer. He is an amazing guy, and I watch his erg scores routinely, just shaking my head at the fast times he still posts.
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

I watched Bob Spousta race this year at WIRC after my race and it was inspiring to see him race a 2k, talk about fly and then hang on for ever it seemed and die right on the line. Amazing and inspirational at the same time.
Not a way I would race too painful. He must be an animal.

Just read Rick's write up. Very good, he should have been a writer as well as all the other things he is. Excellent.

By the way Rick bring many more Bourbon balls next year, it's going to be a big party in Boston....Just under 6 months left now before the start....

Roy, you're the only one to express a liking for my Bourbon Balls. I'd been thinking of trying Pralines for 2015.
