I see where March will be in honor of Bob Spenger. Excellent!
I need to know what name you like to be known by on the CTC. My crystal ball went offline in the "Great Crystal Ball Disaster" of 1989.
Sorry. My name on the CTC is Mark Underwood. I'll change my forum signature to include last name. Thanks!
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

Hello. My name is Lloyd O'Farrell and I'd love to get involved in this competition on a monthly basis. Is there any teams out there looking for a heavyweight male?

Since you appear to be in Dublin, then Paddypower IRC is probably where it's at for you. They have a big following on the Facebork.

Thanks for responding. You wouldn't be able to PM me a contact name to get in touch with? If not, no worries - thanks again.

I'm not on Faceborg. Tom Hackett competed under the Paddypower banner in both the 2016/2017 Irish Indoor.

Andy Benko, Roscoe Leslie, Alastair Peake, Paul Timmons & Laura Phillips show up in the current CTC.

Luke Wollenschlaeger, Andy Benko, Paul Buchanan, Alastair Peake, Heather K Kenton, Roscoe Leslie, Mark Fowler, Paul Timmons, Joshua Cherwinski, Tina OS, David Marks, Guillermo Salas, Colin O'Neill, Mark Underwood, Michael B, Gerry F Keating & Joe A Keating show up in January.

The only one of those I know is on here is Joe Keating (Joe 80).

Cheers Greg, for the why 5142, read back a bit on the forumflyers thread.

CTC March 2017.
The Bob Spenger Memorial 5142.
In memory of the late Bob Spenger, who sadly passed away earlier this year the March 2017 CTC will be a single row of 5,142m.
Whilst his slew of competition victories and 38 current world records (including all distances and times from 500m through to a full marathon) are testament to his achievements on the erg, this challenge also recognises his huge contribution to the world of indoor rowing, with 5,142 being the number of posts Bob made to the current iteration of the Concept2 Forum.
Please record your time taken to row 5,142m as a single piece from a standing start.

What a bummer, Bob Spenger passing. It seemed like he would go on forever. A very accomplished gentleman. Erging was just the icing on the cake for him. I think I first encountered him in Feb, 2012 in a topic "Realistic improvement in older athletes?" Always had reasonable comments.

It does make one think about here today, gone tomorrow. Many drop off the forums, yet it is not known what has happened to them. In this case, fortunately and sadly, we know and can pay our respects. Last yr, there were less than 400 ergers of all genders and weights over 70, out of over 14,000, who ranked 2K times. But, like Bob, we are putting up the good fight until we cannot.
