Graham Fisher 1:42.6 - 760 points
Will Haskell 1:35.2 - 908 points
Ernie Parizeau 1:34.6 - 863 points
Jonathan Turns 1:33.1 - 841 points

Shannon Meekins 1:57.4 - 891 points

My 11 year old daughter did a 500 for the CTC. I have no idea whether they have nonathlon points for someone so young, but I'll add her too.

I did the 500 tonight as well. Slightly better than expected for what was meant to be a "moderate" effort: 1:39.7.

I did the 500 m tonite, 1:35.7 . This was the first time I tried this distance and it was A LOT harder than I thought! What damper settings/drag factors do you guys usually try? I have the C breeze with damper at 9/drag factor about 145 but I wonder if removing the c breeze with a higher damper setting would be better?

Tom B 1:35.7 = 830 points

I set my damper up a bit to 5 (no c-breeze). I typically row at 4, and by 400 meters gone, I was sorry I had raised it. I felt like I was dragging a firetruck. I think I could have done better at 4-4.5. Will have to try again soon....or maybe not...

What's would the group like to do for Saturday's event. I'm thinking a 10k would be a good balance for the 2 min of work we all did yesterday. A HC 10k perhaps?

I set up a 10k HC race for Saturday at 1500pm GMT just in case...

Send your expected 10k times to me at ecp842 "at" yahoo "dot" com (slightly cyptic to reduce spam.) and I will calculate the headstart times.

The damper setting alone doesn't really mean all that much. For real consistency it is necessary to check the drag factor unless you are absolutely sure that the conditions are exactly the same, i.e. cage cleanliness, atmospheric pressure, ambient temperature, nearby fans, and other objects close to the erg.

It is a bit of a nuisance to do the button pushing and handle pulling needed to get the DF, but it takes less than a minute and provides a useful number.

Hi Ernie,

Hope it's not too late, but I did a 500m after our 10k this evening.....result was 1:28.5.
I'll post this on the US forum as well, so hopefully you'll pick one of them up.
