Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Hi! Really stupid newbie question....
I'm always game to try new things, this one included, but I don't know how to program the January 2024 challenge into the C2.
Can someone provide the instructions, or point me to them if they've already been posted?
Thanks, and happy New Years everyone!

This is very easy, best case use ergdata to program.Michelle61 wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2024, 1:37 amHi! Really stupid newbie question....

Go to constant intervals, set 250m for distance, 1min for rest duration and press start. Do 6 of them and then save by pressing menu or the three dot menu on the top left corner in ergdata and one of these options.

Another option is the ErgZone app, which has a "CTC Members" group. I really like using it because someone else has taken the time to get it right; I've known people in the past to do things like forget to program in an interval and then have done hard work that cannot be submitted.
If you use it, a big thing to be aware of this month is that ErgZone will show the target stroke rate and then have an indication like "^1" or "v1" showing if you are up or down from that target. 20 with a ^1 following means that you are one over, and that the score should not be submitted. 20 v1 is actually r19 and is fine. With how short this is, it's impossible to hit r20 at many paces.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot!
Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Te Waka regained their top position in the December challenge. Congratulations!
The Diamonds launched 74 boats last month; I think that's the second highest ever. Great stuff!
Future Challengers|:
February - PaddyPower
March - Germania
April - Team Diamonds
As a new team to the competition and having launched boats in three consecutive months, Norwegian Vikings may claim a challenge. The team captain must contact me either on facebook or the C2 forum for this to happen.
Regards,
Joe

One addition: Slide the "Target Stroke Rate" to "on" and enter 20 in the s/m field. With that set, any s/m data field will show red or green if you're currently above or below the target stoke rate. There's no below target stroke rate. You can row this month's CTC at 16spm if you want. If you go over the whole (up to 5) other segments are invalid and you need to restart.KenMoore wrote: ↑January 4th, 2024, 6:34 pm

New Site for the CTC
Hi all…..British Rowing recently contacted various people in the C2 community to ask for feedback on the promotion of their new online Indoor Rowing Magazine ‘’Inside Indoor’’.
When they spoke to me I suggested that a good way to promote the magazine would be to be actively involved in the community and as a popular competition is the CTC and it needs hosting on a new server with some upgrades to the site could they use their resources to host it?
As has been posted a while back on here they agreed to do this and work has been going on with their ‘tek’ people and Darren and Dougie who set up and do the admin on the CTC site.
I have also had more meetings with them to give info, I’ve been helped by Casey Clarke as we have been involved for a long time and it’s new to British Rowing.
We are now at the stage where a test site will hopefully be ready in Feb and should be able to move over to the new site on 1st March.
Further developments can go from there by consensus between the teams that compete in the CTC but for the new site we do need a list of clubs and contacts which I’m happy to compile for British Rowing with Caseys help.
Can I therefore ask all teams to post (by private message) on here their team name and contact for the team (email).
Thanks All.
Rod.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Hi all,
I am considering doing the Cross Team Challenges this year on a SkiErg (rather than on a RowErg). I know this is already been done (e.g. by team 'Ski Erg'), but I wonder how to treat rate restrictions like the one that applies this month. Are SkiErg users supposed to adhere to the same rate restriction? As stroke rates on a SkiErg are typically more than 1.5 times higher than those on a RowErg, a rate of 20 spm seems a bit unpractical. On the other hand I can understand if the CTC organisers don't want to overcomplicate things for the sake of a few weirdo's who opt for a 'vertical rower'...

I run in the mud, I sweat on the erg, and I happily battle the years...

This is an enormously bad idea. Spammers get email addresses by searching forums. So please send your email address to Rod directly by private message not by posting on here.

Sorry, but this one has a restriction of 20SPM or lower so that's the rule.MudSweatAndYears wrote: ↑January 18th, 2024, 4:49 pmAre SkiErg users supposed to adhere to the same rate restriction?

I would edit my post if I could but as that can't be done then yes, please feel free to message me anyone who wants to let me know.
As yet just the one on this forum has but I have plenty of replies on other platforms.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Hi all.
I'm trying to post a time to the CTC for the first time in a few years, and I can't seem to remember my password, nor are brand-new accounts on this forum allowed to send PMs.
Can anyone lend a hand? Thanks.
