Can someone please update the Entry Guidelines, http://c2ctc.com/entries.php, which states expressly that slides are allowed?
That's not possible, the code is functionally stabilised.

The rules are on here. First post on page 1. viewtopic.php?p=364236#p364236

Is it possible to update the Entry Guidelines to state that the official rules are maintained here? It's the first place I assumed that I should look for the rules, and concluded that slides were okay. A teammate told me that wasn't the case and so I started to dig. I'm likely going to be one of the faster females, so I really want to be sure that I'm playing fair.

Functional stabilisation? A euphony-ous euphemism methinks. Whatever in the world does a mathematical simulation of waterborne progress housed in the monitors of and shared in common by the static erg, the static hybrid on slides, and the Dyno have to do with a fair field of play in a game that began as “just a bit of fun?” If there are record attempts being submitted to CTC, rest assured those results are witnessed and respectful of the static-only eligibility rule. Let the rest of us have our bit of fun. Too much dysfunctional ossification makes Jack a mad lad. B)

It isn't possible to change any piece of code on http://c2ctc.com

What's wrong with the rules on here? They say "no slides".

Apologies Dougie, I made an incorrect assumption that it was the functional pieces of code around boat makeup and placement that needed to remain static and not the entire website, and then misread your earlier remark. The rules here are clear, and the only problem is that they're inconsistent with the website rules. I'm not sure what the solution is, since there's an obvious advantage of maintaining the ability to update rules over time as the community votes. Noted, no slides.

Speaking of, if updating rules on here without touching the website has precedence, it seems like an easy enough switch to allow women to fill the lightweight seat with the same weight standards as the men for this seat. It seems as though it would allow more boats to float. It also appeals to my sense of fairness. Will there be a vote?

Dougie does a great job to keep this going and has done for a long time. Clearly any code changed needs a volunteer who can do this and probably take over as it is likely to lead to knock on effects it would be unreasonable to expect Dougie to deal with, especially as the number of participants has grown significantly.

I made a suggestion above. Yes it is a fudge that requires people in teams who would be effected to choose to be eligible as a Lightweight and give up the right to compete as a woman. I agree with Dougie that it is unrealistic to change the weight limit unless this was done automatically by code that someone volunteers to do. If my non-code related change is of interest, you might like to set up a vote on this (or anything else that doesn't create work for others). Otherwise while this might not be what would be devised today, it is what we have and assuming that we can hold votes to pressure others into having to do work on the site is in my opinion not reasonable behaviour.

Sorry if this is over blunt, but people don't seem to get the message!

As Elizabeth pointed out above, if we are collectively agreeing (or accepting by dictate) that this forum takes precedence over the apparently-carved-in-diamond website, then the possibilities open!

We can vote/agree to changes here, with no work required on the website by anybody but the competitors themselves - should they he so inclined.

The ‘No slides” exclusion dates from 2016. Of course votes can be taken on questions of procedure and eligibility that don’t necessitate code revision.

After a very tight contest at the head of the Leaderboard, SPU Te Waka just held off Germania for the March Challenge. Congratulations! We've had some great competitions in the second half of this season.

The Diamonds continue to astound with their ability to turn out an impressive flotilla. Sixty boats this month; just one shy of their own record. Well done!

SPU Te Waka have the July challenge.

Hello. New rower here form Argentina. Any chance to include "Argentina Indoor Rowers Team" or "Argentina IRT" if shorter name is needed ?

Additionally if Daren or Citroen can contact me, i will appreciate that. I have few questions about CTC.

Red Line Rowers (RLR) May CTC notification:

May The PHORS Be With You

4 x 1k/2'r - first rep from a standing start. Subsequent reps as you like. Record the time for the 4000m.

PHORS stands for Post-Heart Op Rehab Special. I underwent open heart surgery in February to fit a replacement heart valve. Obviously I haven't been able to row since then apart from a couple of paddles for the April CTC in the past couple of days. But my heart surgeon says that I'm now recovered sufficiently so that I can start again properly on 1st May, and I have chosen to use 4x1k/2'r as the key session in my bid to return to my pre-op form (and hopefully significantly exceed it now that I've got a heart valve that actually, you know, works).

I asked my fellow RLR teammates if we could put it forward as RLR's choice for the May CTC to give me some added encouragement and support on my long road back. And I was met with a resounding and unanimous "YES".

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I'm going to :D
