Roy, when you move to Florida you will be less than a 26-hour drive away.
More Photos:
Jim Keating (7:29.3), in the white, who also donated the 2nd place prizes, keyrings with a Nelson Sennit, the 4-strand alternate crown sennit named for Horatio Nelson since October 21,1805.
Gene Burnham (7:55.7) of Indian Nation, requesting divine intervention in his quest to break 8:00 for the first time. The request was apparently granted.
Kinley Gregg (8:09.0) in the green prepares for the start in the Women's heat that included (left to tight) Yvette Knight, Carla Stein and Mary Van Beuren.

Wrapping up another year with some final photos:
Dave Nock (8:12.0) knocking off a quick 2km before getting a tumor removed on February 1st. The Legend grows!
Mary Van Beuren (9:05.2 PB ) establishing a new NE2KC age-50 lwt record.
Race Director Rick Bayko tantalizing he crowd with the coveted Ice Scrapers.
Mike Van Beuren accepts the Tackhammer (best lightweight time of the day) from the respectful director, who is doing his best Wayne's World imitation ('Not worthy, not worthy, I'm scum, I suck')
The PaulS Sledgehammer award (fastest overall time of the day) held aloft for all to see before being claimed by Trevor de Koekkoek, with the strains of Verdi's Anvil Chorus blaring in the background.
2008 was a very good year.

We'll forgive Dave Nock for being the only one to not improve his time, due to extenuating circumstances. On February 1st he had an operation to have a cancerous tumor removed from the left groin area. Coming within 1.9 seconds of a PB 23 days later is at least as remarkable as anything that the rest of us did.
