I really misnamed this thread. The intent is to mark the road to WIRC or equivalent events.
This is not a training thread, per se. It is to note points along a path leading to target times for WIRC, etc.
Matters got a little sidetracked over how C2 verifies WRs. But. thanks to them for recognizing my 5K WR, but it's nothing I was going to insist upon. The 18:00.1 was my first good marker on the road to WIRC. I hope to reach 6:48-6:50 or 1:42-1:42.5. I really need another sec off of 5K, from 1:48 to 1:47.
Continuing in this vein. Today, a brisk 6K. A discordant note is that I'm in the midst of trying to get over a back tweak from last Wed. Did easy 8K on Sat. Still not healed, however. Even though I was sluggish and rowing protectively, I managed a 21:58.9 @1:49.9, 264, 33, 8.0 6K. The WR by Frans van Mierlo is 21:54.5. To be blunt about it, this week is a bit of a setback. I'm supposed to be doing AN and TR speed work this coming week. Not sure I can get away with that.
