Re: Welsh Indoor Rowing Champs - Cardiff 25/11
I will get round to entering - not sure about the LWT larky. Last year I would have got a better result as HWT for the same race time. Also had to weigh in more than once to burn off the excess 0.2kg as stripping off to the essentials wasnt allowed

Re: Welsh Indoor Rowing Champs - Cardiff 25/11
Does anyone know if the rowers will be fixed to the ground in anyway?
I've been having a bit of trouble on my 100m with the erg jumping around in my gym at home

If I remember correctly from last year all the machines are set on a race area of wood with each machine individually secured with blocks of wood which were secured on to the wooden race area. Pretty secure as I recall.

Its not unknown for people to stand on the legs of the rower to stop it moving for such a short distance if it is likely to be a problem.

Good luck to all who do this one...almost certainly not now going due to work commitments and not been erging as much lately as real life has gotten in the way.
I'll be looking at other comps though but this one was relatively local (~1.5hrs away) so a real pity.

I was there with my other half (plus our kidsGammmmo wrote:anyone go? good experience / bad experience? get what you want? times? etc

She got a PB in the open women's 2k.
I won the 100m (joint 1st) in 14.4

Overall, a great experience. Really well run and a friendly crowd. Thinking about entering the EIRC now depending on location.

I went with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed it, a well organised event that I'd recommend to anyone.
I won the 60-69 Lwt 2k in 6:59.5 (which would also have won the Hwt) and the missus won the 50-59 Lwt (she's 59, 60 in Sept.) in 7:47.8.

67 year old, 72 kilo (159lbs), 5'8''/174cm (always the shortest on the podium!) male. Based just south of London.
Best rows as an over 60. One Hour.....16011 metres. 30 mins.....8215 metres. 100k 7hrs 14 mins.

Well done for going sub7 Rod and winning your cat. Is your time about what you expected?Rod wrote:I went with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed it, a well organised event that I'd recommend to anyone.

Thanks Gammmmo and yes, that's around what I was thinking would be possible if I had a good day and it was!Gammmmo wrote:Well done for going sub7 Rod and winning your cat. Is your time about what you expected?
I'm hoping to go faster at the British Champs in 2 weeks, I just need to sharpen up a bit in the next few sessions.

Very good competition Rod!
I will try to do this at 17.December in Frankfurt. I just turned 60 years, last years result 7:01,9.
This year my performance on the erg seems better, but for the price of a little more weight.
In case of missing the 75kg, i take the heavyweight race.
Losing weight in the pre-christmas time is not so easy for me.
Good luck for your next start.

Good luck to you too formerotwrower, I see you know our friend Emanuele Romoli who has some very good scores, our age group is looking to be quite competitive!formerotwrower wrote:Very good competition Rod!

Re: Welsh Indoor Rowing Champs - Cardiff 25/11
8:19.3 for me which is 0.7 slower than Belgian the previous week. Hadnt got any energy for a flying finish although safely into 2nd out of 4 and 1st would have been impossible. Will be working on my start, (must be the only one who takes 2 secs longer through the first 500m compared with the rest), and also the LWT bit - running it close but going to gamble it.
