Yes, after completing the challenge I can see where I may have lost small bits of time. I tried rolling starts, but was not up to speed so probably lost a stroke worth of time/energy there. I did get off to rest and stretch after 6 rounds and strapped about 30 seconds out. I think at this point at my current fitness I may be able to keep a 1:45 pace, but not sure much better. It will take some time as I have just been pounding out meters like I was jogging for a while. I need to get back in sprint cardio shape to go much lower. Are you able to repeat and repost results during a challenge-period if you can improve a result?

Thanks for the support and motivation,

Scott

Yes, as often as you want to do it. And not just improvements I believe, a later entry will ALWAYS overwrite an earlier one, which some have used when they make a mistake/typo first time. Obviously you don't have to post it!

Ok, thanks. If I can muster the energy, I may try it again this weekend and see if I can improve my pace.

You're braver than me!

I did it, but I'm not going in for another try. :D I went as hard as I could and don't think I could do better. I figure it's best if I stay able to row, LOL! I'm doing the Concept 2 Valentine's challenge this week.

A reminder that today (Feb 14) is the annual Carole McNally Memorial Row on the CTC site. It's a one-day 1402m row to commemorate the sudden passing of a rowing legend. The 'regular' Feb 2020 CTC challenge will be back up after today's memorial ends.

Well, I thought I had more in me for this challenge, but could only muster a minor increase 3289>3298. Progress, but just did not have it in me the last 15 seconds through the middle rounds. Back to work!

You need at least five rowers to float a boat in the CTC. If you're a lone rower without a team and not planning to solicit all the rowers you know to join, then join the "Independents" team.

Forum Flyers are always keen for new members, especially if they're female or lightweights :) . If you're interested, you can select our team, and pop over to our team thread on this forum to say hi.

Cheers

Second that! I was just thinking how we need to recruit a couple lightweights.

It's not Joe that does it.

Joe just needs to know your details so that you can be on the schedule for choosing a challenge after you've floated enough boats for enough months to be eligible.

I just need details of your team and it will be available as soon as I have that.

Piergiorgio Nasi has communicated the CTC for March on behalf of RC Mantova it is:

4 x 4 minutes with 4 minutes rest intervals. First from a standing start, the others as you wish. Record the distance covered during the active efforts.

Joe

I received this request for an early challenge:

"Could I please request the JULY CTC challenge for #TeamTokyRow?

As you may recall, I am doing "TokyRow" from my house to Japan in time for the Olympics and getting (50) people to take part in the CTC and other challenges was part of my goal. As it wraps up on 24th July it would be great if we could have the last month to say "goodbye"

If that's okay (assuming we hit the eligibility targets - and we have not missed a month yet since we started) could you let me know so I can start to talk to people about what sort of challenge we should do.

Many thanks

Peter AKA ObeseManRowing"

It seems reasonable: the team are near the top of the waiting list as it stands. If there are any objections, please let me know during the coming week.

Regards,
Joe
