Thanks for information on "impossible" times. The former Overall Leader and Age Group 60-69 leader with a 2:40.0 has been stricken from the results. Now the current 60-69 age group leader is an unknown with 32,000 lifetime meters and a time of 4:50 for 1,000m from two days ago. Now he has submitted a 3:08.0 (I have noticed mistaken pace submissions end in zero)-this is :08 seconds off the AgeGroup world record. The gentleman is 67 years old,5'6",214 pounds. His time reads verified but it seems clear this is not a plausible time. Will Concept2 look into this clearly erroneous entry, even though it seems to be verified?

Thanks.

Ted

That could come from a mis-configured PM3/PM4/PM5.

I assume you are talking about Damien Roohr. His time is unverified........
The current second place, Dietmar Kuttelwascher, also beats the WR.
I have just dropped Damien a line to tell him

I know Damien personally, looks to be a mistake to me. He's solid, CRASH B SILVER IN 2014 55-59hwt. But not 13s under the current WR. My guess is he'll offer up an explanation at some point. Posted my 3:26.5 in 60LWT, currently in 5th, hoping to hang on for a top ten. Lots of fast guys out there.

Dietmar just won the Hammer at "B"s, WR probably legit.

Our 2:04 guy in 60+ is now listed as 4:04 without V. Clearly fat-fingered the manual submission. I believe Hillclimber will correct his entry.

Ted60, verification vs. plausibility? Verification accompanied by plausibility? Plausible to whom? If verified, the piece was recorded on an erg somewhere, an erg that was configured correctly or wasn't, an erg powered by a human, clever chimpanzee, or ?. Does one even need the erg? Perhaps all that's needed is the monitor and an input that mimics the erg's flywheel pulse? On balance, the electronic artifacts of sim-sport are a tricky business :!:

Jackarabit:

Thanks for the information on methods to falsify times. Who and how at Concept should be contacted about these implausible results or do they do a good job on flagging outliers?
Sorry if I butchered your screen name.

@Ted60:

ranking@concept2.com

I don't know who to address. Probably Judy Geer, the challenge coordinator.

Should have written 2:40 and 4:40 in preceding post but you get the idea.

Jason Gibbs 2:51.6 age 56!

Nothing else in the rankings, no stats either. Outstanding, would like to see a bit more info though.

Strenghtwise I rank this above the 50plus 2k Wr.

I share the concerns with bogus postings. I've personally requested that numerous times be removed from C2 rankings. I think only once was I denied and that was a time by a very infamous poster. It should have been deleted but was not.

Regarding Damien R. and TJO, those two have no need to post bogus times. They are both outstanding ergers. Mistakes can be made.

I just submitted a 1K time done on a Model C, PM2. No way to verify. Sorry, it will just have to be accepted.

Zero doubt on your times Jim. It becomes an issue when a WR time is shattered, no "V" code, an even number, and zero on-line presence. Not saying it's not possible, but common sense demands more. You'll sometimes have guys posting up times from a water-rower, I pulled a 6:45 2k fairly easily on one. And regarding last years bogus 6:30-ish
in 65-69HWT, by the same guy who "HD'd" at CB's three years in a row, should have been scratched based on reputation and competition presence alone.

Ed, interesting that Prof. Pickemuptruck's WR '16 entry survived scrutiny. Didn't know that.

Hillclimber now entered with a 5:23 no V. The WR bot must have picked up a WP/CD or just noodlin around.

Just went back and looked Jack, nothing for the anointed one from 2016, has an unverified 6:32 from 2015 which was "good enough" (so to speak) for 3rd in the rankings.

Looks like Damien's log-in got hacked. Maybe it's the Russians?

Deliberately didn't do a 1k....
Seems to me if concept 2 can't be bothered to verify entries for a competition at this level, I'm not going to and join chaos..
