A lot of what ranger wrote was tongue in cheek but he came out with some gems.

I made a note of this from 2010.

Actually, I _did_ see a therapist once, back in college.

But it only took me a few minutes to figure out that I was _much_ smarter than he was.

So that was it.

It dawned on me:

We are all on our own, and what we can do on our own, in all probability, is _much_ better than what society at large is stumbling along with.

No need for fools to tell us where to go, what to do.

That's often worth remembering.

I've had some correspondence with Dena at Concept2.

The profile that posted that 6:32 time on the rankings was created in 2006 and is based on a Detroit, MI IP address (which is close enough to Ann Arbor, MI). So sorry, it genuinely appears that it is the nutty prof himself. He really does still believe that he can pull a 6:32 at age 63 as a heavyweight. He can't, of course, offer any substantive proof that he can do that.

The man at the top of the list "Rich Cureton" is the Prof you speak of, but let's be careful of calling him the "Wolverine Prof" as he is one of two Profs from U Michigan. The other is the father of the wolverine Plan, Mike Caviston, who is infinitely more respected in the rowing world than Mr Cureton.

To Mr Curetons credit, he was officially recognized as the Lightweight World Record holder for his Age at one time and he did win a C.R.A.S.H-B hammer in the 50-59 lightweight division in 2003. It was his insights on training and his narcissistic ramblings that made him persona non grata on the forums. In my opinion, some of those who used to bait him should also have been banned.

I doubt if Caviston is worried about being mistaken for a professor of literature. I am also surprised to hear that UMich has but two profs. I would have guessed hundreds more than that. Jack

I think this thread has done it's course. Ranger got some forum traffic by some clever editing of his http://log.concept2.com profile and publicised it by posting a ludicrous and clearly fake time.

Since he's banned from here and not allowed any right of reply I'm locking this one. Usual rules about starting new threads on the crazy prof are back in force.
