Erging in New York or Boston

Post by jamiep123 » March 9th, 2010, 6:34 am

I'm not specifically looking for competetion but I will be on vacation in New York and Boston in May and I would like to do some indoor rowing. It is a vacation but I don't want to completely miss two weeks rowing. Does anyone know any gyms where I can just show up and use an ergo? I have looked online for Boston and NY but nothing shows up.

Thanks for any help
Jamie

James,

Did you try http://www.concept2.com/us/interactive/rowerfinder.asp ? A whole list came up for me using the Boston zip code 02116.

If none of those work, you might want to try a local boathouse. Not sure the convenience level for but you may try Community Rowing first, since they are huge boathouse they may be more flexible.

Enjoy your trip.

Things may have changed since I last looked but I couldn't find many places when I was looking for somewhere in NYC. However, there is a gym (Steel Gym?)on 23rd street between 6th and 7th that has a concept 2. Mostly a weights gym so the erg didn't seem tobe used that much. Only negative was that it's on the ground floor with glass front so everyone would be able to see you!

Check out the 92nd St. Y on 92nd/Lex-they have a couple of C2's.
