heart monitor bras

Post by kaz » December 21st, 2008, 9:51 am

Anyone use a heart rate monitor bra? I'm looking at ones (Numetrex) that use the Polar watch that should be able to transmit to my C2 erg. Never used a heart monitor before but it's being recommended by a fellow rower for improved training feedback. Thanks

I use a heart rate monitor. It is a strap that fits around my chest. I tuck it under the heavy elastic of the lower portion of my bra, which aids in good contact. I don't have trouble with the HR not registering, esp once I get sweaty. Don't have any experience with a bra designed with the monitor in the bra. I wonder if that is really needed.

I use a garmin, it does not pick up on the erg, but I have the GPS which is useful for tracking meters for my on water rows. I am finding the heart rate monitoring useful for my training. I am still learning to use my heart rate numbers, but have learned a lot about what my ranges are for working hard vs recovery rates. One of the gals from the national team came to our boathouse for our regatta last fall. She uses the garmin and swears by it. Says she can't imagine training wo a HR monitor.

Let us know what you learn about the bra. It is probably more convenient, possibly more comfortable, though I really don't have problems with the strap being uncomfortable.
