Hand pain

Post by jskingry » February 6th, 2008, 1:06 pm

Hello all,
My wife has been rowing about 5k a day since the beginning of January and has developed some bad hand pain. Her hands are very slender and long and the pain she says is in her main hand not the fingers and what she describes sounds like tendon pain. Can anyone suggest any sort of gloves or handle change that might make it a little less painful for her while rowing.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Wrist pain seems to be a more common complaint than hand pain, but I would try some of the same things:

- make sure she's not gripping the handle too tightly. Use a light, "C" shaped grip.
- make sure that there's no wrist flip at the end of the stroke. The wrists remain straight throughout.

Hope that helps.
