Get thinking about JVC

It's time to get organized for the January Virtual Challenge. A friend asked if I would head up the team for the Ducks. I'm willing to do so, but if anyone else wants to volunteer, that's OK with me, too. I don't want to crown myself.
And what about a name? Last year we did Resolutions in a Row. The year before was Fowl Play. Before that, someone else will have to supply the history.
What sort of team? I remember that Fowl Play was coed. (My boys were on it, among others.) I can't remember what we did for RIAR.
The only name I've thought of so far is Ducks on Ice. That works for most of us, but not for friends in the southern hemisphere.

Excellent Schenley! Thanks for volunteering to captain the team!
The first JVC was two years ago, so you have the whole history.
Sign me up! I don't remember what information I have to give you... but post directions for us.
I had a brilliant name for the team but by the time I got this web page I forgot it.... I'll post again when it comes to me.
I am all for a team that is "the more the merrier!"

I am happy you are going to captain our team born out of the Ducks in a Row. I think you need first name, last name and email address used on Concept2. So we will need to get the word out to email you.

Hi Schenley and thanks for volunteering to captain the team. My first challenge was this years HC and I'm ready for more motivation. I think the procedure is to send you my name and email. So, I'll do that and hope I am on the team. Ducks on Ice sounds good to me. Thanks again. denise

Alright, it looks like I need to figure out how to set up a team.
We'll need to get the name issue settled first, I guess.
So far we have:
Ducks on Ice
DAFT (Ducks and Friends Together - a good choice if we go with an open team)
I'll wait until at least tomorrow to form the team so that people have time to comment on the name.

I like Ducks and Friends Together. I suggest posting the whole name as well as the abbreviation!
Although, many people do think I am DAFT for rowing, especially on high meter competitions.

I think DAFT is funny and accurate! Ducks on Ice is pretty good, too.
Great start!

I am excited that we are getting a team together. The HC was so much fun for me. Row Pro sounds like a nice gift! Let us know how you like it. I am interested, but since my erg is in the garage it is not near my computer
. Maybe I need a laptop?? DAFT sounds good to me--include everyone!! Thanks all!

Anch'io ! Me too!
I would like to take part. I especially like DAFT (With the complete name following)

Row Pro as a reward

Row Pro as a gift? A FABULOUS reward! You will love it! There are a bunch of us who LOVE to get beginners started. So don't be shy about trying the on-line component of Row Pro.
TVChikee-I don't know what time zone you are in... There are often rows with "All Welcome" listed around 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. Send me a PM with you email and we can make arrangements to get you started. A few of us could even talk you through the set up over the phone if you need extra help.
Surf--Some of us use laptops (I bought a used one) and others use "old" computers that other people discard and connect with wireless.

You definitely need a laptop.
My erg is in the garage, too. Fortunately, my husband has an old laptop that he no longer used. It is now the official "Erg Laptop."
OK folks, the team is set up as Ducks and Friends Together, but we all know it's really DAFT.
It thought I was spamming because I tried to send PMs too close together, so I'll post the initial list here:
Alison B.
Denise C.
Ellen D.
Susan H.
Joan J.-M.
Cindy P.
Tina R.
Ning W.
Margaret W.
Anyone else who would like to be added, please send me a PM. I'd like to see lots of kids get involved. I think my littlest will join. We'll see if his brothers follow.

I vote for DAFT. I think we are all one big happy daffy ducky family on the forum. I just posted my (re)intro on the 'Introduce yourself' thread.
I am looking for a training partner or partners to inspire me as I get back into rowing. The challenges are good motivation but friends are even better. Easy sessions, 1/2 hour or a bit, at 2:30 to 2:45. Please email me if you are interested.
Regards, grams

We should have a few kick off rows on Row Pro on January 1!
One of them should be for the youngsters! I know Danae (age 7) would row Nicholas (age 7). How "early" would you want to set up a kid's row?

Kudos to Schenley for taking on the team captain role. Welcome to all our new & returning members. The JVC is a great way to stay motivated & keep racking up those meters. Lets go ladies (and kids, etc)! Have a great day all & Happy New Year a tad early.
