Chapter 2....

Post by Storm Petrel » May 13th, 2007, 6:11 pm

Ergo was a beast with an over sized wooden oar handle you could switch over for port or starboard. I was port.
I can certainly tell it's been 25 years....but I still love it!

My Model D arived this past Monday 6/7. B) I couldn't wait to get home and try it.
That evening I spent some time figuring out where I wanted the foot settings, and which shoes were going to feel best, I tried barefoot but wasn't comfortable, and varying the damper setting and checking out the monitor (wish it had backlighting).
I think my timing was initially off. I wasn't feeling adequate resistance from the "oar" until about a third of the way into the drive. I was giving too much time to the recovery I think. Felt much better the next day working on that, felt smoother.

My times need improvement.
I'm coming back from fractured lumbars and sacrum, but my broke down back is liking this alot! So I'm stoked!!!
My focus right now is form/technique/timing and foundation with LSD.
(1st Goal: the Summer Solstice Row 6/21).

1st week 1 total M=35,223

Welcome...if you rowed years ago, I bet you have great technique. We are glad to have you here!

Don't worry about times at this point. They will come down with time. And, your meters for the first week are mighty admirable!!

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement Anne.
The competitive side of me is anxious, but, I know I need to do my base work first. It sure feels good to be at it again.
