Just purchased my Concept2 Rower on-line and very excited to start my workouts. Have wanted a Concept for several years but just now making the "pop" to purchase. We have a local rowing club and I want to be ready to join the fun when the water and weather get warmer.
Welcome to the forum - still very much a newbie myself but this is a hugely freindly place with loads of great advice - but be warned - hugely addictive lol
Doh ....Lost again!!!

Welcome txsckb, congrat on the C2 purchase. I own my erg, and am really glad I do. Gives me alot of flexibilty for workout time, allows me to get my kids involved inthe holiday challenge, and important things like being able to pop a DVD in and watch what ever I choose while I workout.
If you are new to erging, watch the C2 tape to look at form carefully, lower the damper setting somewhere between 1 and 2 to start, and don't plan to stay on the first few times for more than about 10minutes. unless you have already been rowing. See how your body does with the short, light, slow workout at first. If you feel good the next day, do some more, and go a little longer. Don't get too aggressive to fast, you can make yourself so sore that you can hardly move the next day if you get too aggressive too fast. I've done that to myself when I've had 1+ month periods away from the erg then come back to it. I am now (usually) smart enough to start back in slowly when that happens.
Xeno (iron oarsman...I think he's at gorow.com) has an excellent technique DVD. I highly recommend it. Best way to keep from injury and to make improvement is with good technique. Start out with good technique and you won't have to do what I did, and unlearn a bunch of bad habits after several self trained years of erging!
Keep us posted on your progress! If you are interested on joining a virtual rowing team, the Ducks would love to have you!
