Improving Erg Scores

Post by estroll » February 24th, 2013, 7:37 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm a high school freshman and I recently started rowing about 4 months ago on a novice team. We practice five times a week for about 90 minutes. After a lot of hard work, I have gotten my 2k time down to 8:27. I'm 5 foot 8 and about 145lbs. If I continue to work hard, how much can I expect my time to go down before O start applying for colleges?

Thank You :D

Listen closely, if you want to be able to apply to colleges you need a 2k time of at sub 6:45 by senior year. If you want to get your erg times down you are going to have to work hard. After practice do 1x 20 minute piece as hard as you can. Don't expect to PR because you did have practice but even if you are doing terrible keep going. As long as you are sweating you are improving. I am serious erg 20 minutes 6 times a week in addition to practice. This got my 2k time down from 8:02 to 7:35 in one month(also a freshman 130lbs). Trust me as long as you stick with it you will improve dramatically.
