New to Rowing

Hi, I am 34 years old with 3 kids. Time is tight but I need/want to get into better shape to keep up with the kids and feel better about myself. I have tried exercising but have a hard time sticking with it. I just ordered my Concept 2 model D the other day and I can't wait to get on. I love having goals to reach and challenges to face. Those seem to help motivate me.

Can anyone recommend and women's groups to join or where to find some routines to learn/attempt to get my form good? Any/all help would be appreciated.

Hi, and welcome!

The Pete Plan (http://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/the-pete-plan/) is a good beginner's plan, or you could also try the Concept2 interactive training plan (http://concept2.co.uk/training/interactive) which takes into account current fitness levels. Also, if you head on over to the Training Forum, you can get some great advice on technique and training plans if you post there. Good luck!

I found belonging to the nonathlon forum/club to be a real motivator. You can put times in for 10 different events. so whether it's a long row or a short row it works, and it gives you variety in your routine. you can find it at http://www.nonathlon.com/

I used it when I was losing weight, and had great fun because I could put in all my scores as a heavyweight, and then I turned light weight (barely) and got a whole new set of scores.
