Janet, congrats on passing the 70K mark!   With over 2 weeks to go you should pass the 100K mark handily!

Jack, and Lindsay thanx for joining in!

So far so good for me. Heading off to do my 2nd row of the day which will put me over the 145K mark.

Just passed 200,000 lifetime meters (since Oct 6) and 85,000 for the holiday challenge. Gradually increasing my time without stopping. Think I need to go back to the Beg Pete Plan vs. going for time and then try the 30 min CTC again at end of month. Was pretty comfortable at 25spm and 2:35 pace today for 5000 meters.

WOOHOOOOO!!! :) :) :) :)

Today and tomorrow (Tues, Weds) are full rest days for me. Really tempting to just do a short session each day, but pretty sure my shoulder would disagree with that plan so I'm trying to be good. (definitely NOT my forte! )

Jill, looks like you've passed the 100K mark. CONGRATS!

Hope everyone else is doing well and having fun! (this is fun right?)

100,000 in the books! That was a lot of effort for $2.00 to charity LOL. Still working on higher drag, more effort to get to where I need to be for CTC. Was on pace for 15 min. today. Hopefully work up to 30 min at that pace by end of month :). Now, on to the next 100,000.

Janet,    Big congrats on the 100K mark! You'll be passing the 1MM mark in no time I'm sure!

After a couple of days off (and a visit to my chiropractor :? ) I got in 11K yesterday.

This is the part of the challenge where I can see the finish line and want to really push to get it done. I have to remind myself to not push too hard. But since I did push a bit yesterday, it looks like I'll finish the 200K on Monday or Tuesday!

Jill, looks like you're still going strong, and will hit the 3/4 done mark soon. YEAH!

How is everyone else doing?

Good job, Sharky! There have been some strong women posting results in CTC, so I may have to abandon hope of doing well this month and just lower the drag and go for slow and easy meters towards the holiday challenge. I would have to do under 2:20 pace to even get up to a boat afloat and I don't see that happening without way too much effort at this point. Perhaps a second row tonight instead, as I only managed 3000 meters after an hour run/walk this morning.

Hello there girls - after reading through your messages, I have enjoyed another very entertaining ‘ Catchupathon ‘ .

Sharky, you have excelled yourself👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 - when I checked earlier, you had reached 185,339m - that leaves you 3 days to cover 14,661m. You are cruising, you’ll do it. Go girl. :D

Janet, I am glad that you heeded Sharkey and Lindsay’s advice about easing up on the throttle a little.

Congratulations on completing 100k - as a newbie and as someone who also takes part in other sporting activities, that’s a great effort and one to be proud of.👏🏼👏🏼 :D

Much respect for your CTC score - no need at all to become despondent about it. At the moment you are competing against many experienced ladies. On the other hand, I think you’ll find that quite a few of them, including some our own ladies will not have completed the Holiday Challenge. As for not being afloat in a boat at the moment, we are only halfway through the month, which leaves plenty of time to take on board a couple more passengers.

Janet, be patient and consistent with your training and gradually you will see improvement. Despite Sharky’s suggestion, I am not at all qualified to give you any advice on any type of training. If push came to shove, then I would tentatively suggest that you cut back on some of your other sporting activities. Erging, as you are finding out, is both physically and mentally demanding.

occowboy, I hope that you still managed to persuade yourself 200,000 metres was doable - I’m going to assume that you did so congratulations👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I also hope that you have more days when you feel you want to row than days when you don’t. I don’t think I’ll make 2,000,000m for the season but my very first million will always be the most important million of them all. When I’m feeling down or inadequate or have a rowing off-day, I take out the T-shirt, ( still in its wrapper ) hold it up against my chest, until it connects with my ‘ secret self ‘ and then pack it away again until next time. It never fails to cheer me up. :)

A little behind with my schedule as things haven’t gone quite according to plan - due to unexpected but lovely visitors, two rowing days were lost. Yesterday I was out all morning and then my son called in for an afternoon cuppa which stretched into supper, so that was another day lost. I am hoping now, to be finished by Wednesday. Lets see …

Jill :)

PS - By the way, I am not a robot ... or am I ... 🤖🤣

Good to hear from you, Jill! Took a day off from all sporting activities today for a half day of fishing. Intended to row tonight, but by the time I got around to it my husband was snoozing and the rower is in our bedroom, so a day off it is. Sticking to the beginner Pete Plan and fitting in running, biking and swimming when I can. It has been too windy for paddle boarding and I haven't made it back to the pickle ball courts yet. Biking is going to start taking priority as our bike trip in Thailand is only about 5 weeks away. Got our bike jerseys from the tour company in the mail today! Gets dark early though, so rowing is a good evening activity :). Keep up the great work, everyone!

   201800 !!!
Yesterday (Sunday) watched a couple of good football games, got into a rhythm and got 2 6K + sessions (total 13K +). Then finished it up this morning.

This is the first time I've done the 200K Holiday Challenge 2 years in a row. (pun intended) I've tried a couple of other times, but life kept getting the way.

Planning on taking off the rest of the work week off to let everything recover. I'll probably get some meters in this weekend, to keep in the row of things and get ready for January challenges. (and maybe back-to-back 1MM seasons)

Jill thanx for the kudos.

Janet, you're doing great!

Thanks for your kinds words. I've hit over 300,000+ because I've convinced myself 2M by the end of the year must be achieved. Why? Who really knows other than it sounds good. Somewhere in my Log though I'm missing 31,000 meters so I have to go track them down. For the M every single meter counts.

That t-shirt is pretty cool because no one can take that away from you. A million meters whether its your first or 10th is A LOT!!!!

Wow! Great job Occowboy and Sharky! I go back and forth on whether I will complete the 200,000...I guess time will tell :). Today I did some intervals totaling 9000 meters and then did a 12 mile bike ride. I would need to row over 10000/day every day thru 24th to hit 200,000, but I am also ramping up the bike riding and the winds are favorable this week for fishing, so lots of choices for my time. Thursday and Friday are bad weather days predicted, so that could help the holiday challenge meters. Keep up the good work ladies!

Janet: don't worry about hitting the 200K mark. There are more challenges to come and rowing is my only activity so I don't have to split my time. I hope you have a great time whichever activity you choose!

Jill:    congrats on passing the 200K mark. Great Job!

a new one time distance...10,000. I did do two quick 5 sec stops for water and to catch my breath, but working on longer rows. Put me over the 140,000 mark for holiday challenge :).

Hi everyone,

Sharky, thank you for your thanks and congratulations on completing the 200k - I knew that you would though. Another of your sterling efforts.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍 :)

Janet, Sharky is right and again, you should be extremely proud of your achievements.👏🏼👏🏼👍 :) Good luck with your forthcoming bike ride adventure - is it for charity?

occowboy, I underestimated your Holiday Challenge meterage. 🤔 ... Mmm … by rather a lot.  You are obviously quite capable of reaching the 2,000,000m by the end of the year. I’ll start again. Congratulations on erging 300,000 metres, plus many more for the challenge. That should cover it.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 :D

I hope that you have managed to round up the missing 31,000m - cripes! that’s a substantial amount of metres to go AWOL. Although I upload using RowPro and Richard has spreadsheets ( of his spreadsheets   ) I always write down all my workouts in a notebook and after each session, compare my figures with my logbook. If they don’t agree, it’s always due to human error on my part ( dodgy addition skills  ).

In the end, I was only a little bit behind schedule, although at one point I was going to call it a day but after reading through your posts again, I was fired up and back in the groove. Thank you girls, your enthusiasm and motivation saved the day. :D

Seasons greetings to you and best wishes for the New Year.

Jill :)
