Sunday Stats for the Ducks in a Row

Post by data_duck » August 1st, 2007, 8:50 pm

I guess I'm the one who started keeping weekly stats on the Ducks near the top of the DIAR. It started simply just for my own info and then I asked some Duck friends if they would like to get a copy of my stats and it just grew from there. I probably didn't get permission to do the editorializing I do but I think it is really fun to know why people row and how different and alike each person's life is....and I seem to have taken the job of being a cheerleader for those who row all those meters. I'm so glad that the DIAR was alive and well when I joined over two years ago. It has been a tremendous asset in my life. Lots of new friends. Dear friends that I would never have known if it hadn't been for the camaraderie of the Ducks. My Sunday stats usually include the top 30 people or so on the DIAR and anyone who wants to be included in my email list on Sunday mornings can email me personally and I will be glad to add them. It is nothing official... just tracking the stats from Sunday morning to Sunday morning and I try to spread some news about some of the other Ducks and what they have been doing whether rowing or some other activity. I have been so inspired by being a Duck that I guess I consider it a privilege to just to get to know them better and spread the news. Ellen.... proud to be a member of the DIAR.... I can be emailed at emd@oma-usa.com

newsletter

Post by Wood_Duck » August 22nd, 2007, 5:55 pm

Hi Bill,

Ellen's newsletter is GREAT. She lets us know how many spots we have moved (up or down). What our three week average is. Who rowed the most meters that week (which may be different from the leaders.) so although I might be in 20th place overall I might have ranked 13th in meters for the week.

There are 5 of us all bunched up around 14-20th place. Knowing where people are motivates me to keep up with daily rowing. Plus we know who is going out of town, who has tried something different and info about what we do besides row!

In fact, the newsletter is how I met Ellen. I too heard about someone keeping stats and mailing them out. So I emailed Ellen to see if she would send them to me too and she did. Now we row together on RowPro several times a week. (7:30 PM or so EDT/23:30 GMT) So anyone reading this that wants to row with RowPro let me know. We are not speedy!

Susan
