I'm in for the January challenge. I plan to do 100k again in January so if any teams want me on that basis, then let me know :) The only name I could think of for a ladies team would be Empress Ergers but happy to go with any team name.

Hey Ducks!

I was in the JC last year, and I *neeeeeeed* to be in it this year, too! I liked the big team concept, because we all kept getting on the forum and urging (or should I say "erging"?) each other on. But I can sure understand why I wouldn't want to be captain of a big group, too!! There was some work there. I haven't read the instructions for this year, so I don't know what's what.

Last year, the two top names we voted on were "Fowl Play" and "Quack Attack."

I like resolute ducks or resolutions in a row.

I would be for a team of any size. I suggest a goal of regular rowing (pledge a certain number of days a week.) The actual meters rowed per member would vary based on the member's ability.

The focus would be committing to row a certain number of days a week. I seriously fell off the erg not too long ago. I have been trying to use the HC as incentive to get back to rowing 5 days a week and I am NOT there yet.

I would be happy to be captain. Sounds like sign up is like last time, the captain "adds" people to the team. I don't have a lot of time right now but I am certainly committed to the concept. If someone else wants to be captain of this concept, that would be GREAT! If not, I can do it.

Grams Team is ROW FOR IT! I just couldn't handle Down & Ergy after all.

The first 20 to sign up will be in! I'm limiting my team to 20, so I can do a good job being Captain.

Last year the categories for numbers of members in a team were:

1-5 members
6-20
21-50
51 or more

All you prospective fearless leaders, I suggest you pick a Team name and max size and go for it!

TO JOIN ROW FOR IT!
Please create an Online Logbook profile for yourself (if you don't already have one) because I prefer that each member to enter their own meters instead of my doing it for them.

Then email me with your email address, first and last name exactly as entered into your profile (all three pieces of information are required to add a member). I'll add you to ROW FOR IT and email you to let you know you have been added. You will have to enter your own results in your logbook.

DIAR Team

Post by efg » December 20th, 2006, 4:08 pm

Hello Susan,

Thanks for offering to be a team captain. What would the name of the team be? It wasn't too much work being captain last year, you just need to enter everyone's info. The main work is keeping track of the emails and not missing anyone. Once they're entered, the work is done. I'll join your team. I need the motivation of the January challenge. I am dealing with more achiness this year, so it is harder to force myself to exercise regularly, even though I generally feel better when I manage it.

And I do NOT like the way my weight tends to go up when I stop rowing!

DIAR January Challenge

Post by Nan » December 20th, 2006, 9:26 pm

Hello Susan:

I like either of your suggested team names. I also like the idea of committing to rowing five times a week. Soooooo, if you do captain a team, I would like to join you.

I am almost finished with the Holiday Challenge. I completed most of the metres on a Model D at my health club but reverted to the Model A in my basement for 5000 metres this evening simply because I could not fit in the trip to the club today. Oh my goodness--what a difference in the "feel" and the noise level.

I picked up the antique (I think it is almost a collector's item. It was built in Quebec and I wasn't even aware Concept II ever had a Canadian operation.) at a garage sale and added a performance monitor. After I almost killed myself when the chain came loose and hit me in the head during a vigorous erging session in my first Holiday Challenge a few years ago, my husband built a cage around the flywheel. I've replaced bits and bobs over the years but it is remarkable that the original continues to function. I am vowing not to participate in another HC with it though, and hope to get a Model D in the new year.

At any rate, I will finish that last 15K at that health club. All good wishes of the season,

Nancy

DIAR Jan challenge

Post by voodoogirl » December 23rd, 2006, 11:47 pm

Hi Susan

I'd be happy to be on your team. Last year was my first Jan challenge, but I'm just about done with my 200K for the holiday challenge and having that kind of goal really helps me stay on the erg! I'm also getting my house ready to sell so I'll need all the physical activity I can get for stress reduction. I'm committed to erging at least five days a week for as many meters as I can.

Any team name is fine with me.....as I recall, Emilia was awesome last January!

What do you need from us?
