Carole:

I'll save you !!! :D I'm tossing in a life buoy for you now!!!

I'm sure you'll blast through that weight plateau soon. A trip to Crete sounds very exciting. I'll be expecting some interesting pics in your UK diary after that one!! :)

Oh, the water looks nice! :D May I come in, even if I'm not a Duck, Carole? I'll bring a bottle, too! Red or white? B)

The water does look nice--- a whole lot better than the lake I tipped into last week when I was in a single! I learned why I prefer the erg--- anyway, good summer weather has kept me out of the duck pond on line. But, I'm glad to be back.

I'm doing quite well. Today I am celebrating the fact that I have lost 50 pounds!! I am well into the lightweight category now (126), so I am rather pleased. :D Now just got to keep the weight from creeping back on, but rowing should help there.

I have been doing the Interactive Program over the summer to work on bringing my 2K time down. I don't actually like 2K's that much, so sometimes I wonder why I torture myself!

I have brought my 2K time down this season by 10.1 seconds, but when I did my last "test" I didn't get a PB, so not sure what that means - probably either I flied and died or I am a wimp!

Summer vacation & moving slowed me down. Back on the rower for the first time in a couple months. Can't believe it went so long.

Gained back the 10 pounds I lost last year (sigh), but finally am turning the scales around with more exercise and better (less rich) diet.

Read "The China Study" and am inspired to strive for a mostly vegan diet. Started brisk walk/jogs of 3.5 miles for a week now with my preschooler. He cycles so I can keep a good pace. It helps when he races me or tells me how very fast I'm going. Haven't figured out how to squeeze the rowing back in, but want to before the rain returns.

Where were you in Crete Carole? We had a lovely time there several years ago in the south side.

Speaking of pounds on-6 weeks in the UK was bad for me - too many chips and Indian food!! I managed to get to the leisure3 Centre about once a week but unfortunately had to take it too easy because of the wonky knee.

Everyone-I need motivation. I'm 15 lbs over now. It may not sound like much, but I can't do my regular dashing around and erging for a bit till my knee recovers from the surgery. I'm doing 25 mins with one leg and 5 with both. All at a very low setting. It takes forever to warm up now-even getting out of bed requires sretching first. (whine)

Carole-how long did it take you to get to where you could erg, and what did you do about the mental block?? Unfortunately I can't go off to a spa...

Thanks,

Hiya Carole,
Sounds like you had a great trip! If I know you it won't take you long to be up in the top few percent on every ranking and off those pounds will go. Just don't go busting any bones!!!

Grams, you sound very frustrated...is swimming a possiblity for you? I would think that would be good as you could just let that leg drag through the water and work the whole rest of your body. Hang in there! your knee won't be wonky forever!!!

I'm back on the rower with both legs!! (albeit very gently) Once the swelling went down getting around was a lot easier. And using slides allowed me to ease back into it. I am in for a 9 month rehab in a safe environment. No major twisting allowed so I'm ruling out some outdoor sports. (fear of falling is still there)

Yesterday I went shopping for a stationary bike. They are pricey for the most part. I favor a cheaper one ( the Schwinn 113) because it has more sizing adjustments and a nice display. That way me and my hubby can both have fun when the rain really sets in.

And back to salads. Fortunately I can't starve myself too much while I am an invalid. I am trying out some new healthy foods, like quinoa and amaranth and whole wheat couscous to relieve the boredom.

Carol, do you have any diet tips?

Apologies Carole-I've been spelling your name wrongly. It's the tranquilizers and pain pills...

Actually my main client is named Carol (no e). Short term memory loss keeps setting in and I get mixed up.

Your diet and mine sound similar, and also the modification to erging technique. I look forward to training for an event when things finish healing. Although I doubt that I will do a 100,000m sesssion as you did soon after your injury. I'll stick to marathons.

How is the training for BIRC going?
