Women's Rowing shorts??

Post by Surf Scoter » May 7th, 2008, 7:07 pm

Hi. Does anyone know a source for women's rowing clothing?? I am looking for a pair of shorts that might work better than my cycling ones. I am having some sitz bone pain and I think the cycling liner may be the culprit. I wonder if there is some outlet for women's crew gear. Thanks.

Cycling shorts are good.

I'd take out the liner, which is what I do for cycling and rowing.

There's some reasonably priced ladies shorts at:

The padding in cycling shorts is in the wrong place, they're OK for short rows of 40mins or less, but not beyond that. That's even true for fellas. I prefer to use a one piece rowing suit.

They do ladies one-piece rowing suits.

I can't tell if those "rowing" shorts are just lycra with no padding?? If that is the case, I can see that using biking shorts without the liner would work? Thanks for the input.

Some of the best rowing clothing on the planet.

If you like your shorts really snug (like compression shorts), the Polypropylene is the way to go, but my wife and I both prefer the Drywick material.

thanks, Paul. I never would have found that website. I don't live too far from Seattle, so I might even visit the store. It looks good.

Row shorts

Post by saasha » December 18th, 2009, 10:39 pm

I own one pair which are Rough Trade a small company which have since gone out of buisness. They have a double lined bottom which makes it a little more comfortable, most other rowing shorts i have seen are just cycle shorts with out the chamis. I cut mine out because they can distort your technique.

Good luck

I've always used shorts from regattasport. They have some nice designs particularly made for erging in a women's cut. One of my favourite designs have a double layer on the backside for extra padding and comfort while erging. Also, the legs don't ride up. With biking shorts, I've found that some brands tend to slide up my legs during a workout which can be really distracting.
