I had one of those Dynos years ago. I never used it much. I actually preferred going to the gym for strength training. It just went very user friendly, for me, at least.

I''m hoping that this new machine is better.
I'd be interested to hear more. Personally, I hate gyms, and I hate equipment you need to reconfigure for every exercise.

So the Strength Erg is positive in the first regard, and a concern in the second.

Can you expand on how the Dyno was not user friendly, and if the videos of the Strength Erg suggest it might be better?

I don't know the Dyno, but could test the strength erg on my last competition in Essen.
The only "reconfiguration" needed is a pull/push element to fixate, when in use. The machine itself is limited in movement pattern, you can push und pull horizontally.
I found the force curve felt very different to a classic weights movement, but not bad. You get as much resistance as you push/pull, but then immediately feel no load, if you stop and return to the start position.
Due to the very restricted movement pattern and missing opportunities to do explosive movements, this thing isn't for me, but I'm no machine-guy anyway, as most of my training consists of bodyweight exercises.

I hear you. It irks me that many (most) hotel gyms lack anything resembling pull-up or dip bars. Sometimes you can use a Smith machine or the like if there aren't too many accessories and crap getting in your way. Sometimes you can use the handles on a treadmill, but they are generally too far apart.

That said, I'm still interested in the Strength Erg as a complement to bodyweight.
