Adjusting the handlebar reach position

Hi All,
Just got a new bikeerg all assembled and everything, however the handlebar reach adjustment seems to be very tight,
I am having to really yank at it to move it to the right settings.
Was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get this moving a tad smoother.
thanks

Release the top right adjustment knob as much as possible.
The clamp should move apart at the top to allow adjustment of the top tube.
If the clamp still is too tight, you could probably pry it apart with a large screwdriver or a chisel.

Had the same problem. Maybe worse because I couldn't fit the handlebar through the handlebar post opening. Ben Hickory at Concept2 Tech Support sent me a replacement handlebar. The replacement was quite tight; however, I did mange to fit it through the opening. Ben said the fit was designed to be tight and should loosen up over time. But it still seems very, very tight!

I'm glad it worked for you. The simplest solutions are often the best ones.

Ran into this same issue assembling my bike today -- handlebars way too tight and couldn't even get them installed. The problem is the nut securing the adjustment knob was tightened too much by Concept2.
Simple fix: Loosen the knob as much as it will go by hand, then take a socket wrench (1/2" I believe) and back that nut off a half-turn or so. Loosening the knob again will now spread apart the opening a tiny bit more. Check that the handlebars can now slide smoothly. Repeat if necessary.
Hopefully Concept2 sorts this out and ships them with a little more wiggle room.

Add me to the list. Just assembled my BikeErg yesterday and the seat and handlebar square tube fittings were way tighter than I expected. Was worried I was going to scratch or damage something with how hard I had to push to slide the handlebars in. I'm hoping that after being tightened for a bit the black plastic in the "clamp" will compress a bit and thus become a hair thinner making it easier to slide the tube during adjustments. Because as it is now there's no way I can make adjustments without getting off the bike, supporting it so it doesn't lift and really applying some pressure to move those handlebars.
