Hey guys,
Just purchased the bikeerg the other week. I do tend to sweat heavily. Getting some rust spots on the piece around the flywheel. Can I cover this thing? I am really worried about the inside of the flywheel long-term. Contacted c2 support for now. Wondering if you all have any suggestions. Will covering the piece change my overall drag factor / performance with the machine?

If you cover it, the air can't get out and the wind-resistance flywheel won't work.

Just make sure you wipe it down after you're done.

The mesh is available as a spare part for the rowing ergos, you'll need to check with Concept2 about a replacement mesh for the bike.

I hung a piece of foam sheet between the fan cage and me to block the wind from being so strong.
You could likewise connect something to the part of the cage that's rusting, and be sure to recalibrate afterward.
Even right under the handlebar would probably help in your case.

a light coating of WD40 did the trick for me, had a few rust patches developing, some WD40 + steel wool .. cleaned them all out, then applied a post scrub thin wd40 coat .. seems to be holding up well.
