Pete's Plan but for the BikeErg?

Post by BinaryZombie » July 12th, 2024, 10:26 am

I'm coming off yet another spinal injury and considering the amount of back surgeries I've had to have now I'm thinking of just selling the rower and getting a BikeErg instead since it seems like it would be better for my back. Since I've been down for a little more than 6 months (plus also going through Covid during this time) I wanted to know if there was something similar to Pete's Plan for the BErg. If not, would it just be fine to do Pete's Plan but modify the distances?

Also, what about steady state on the BErg? Is there a meta like with the rower with the 22s/m?

2 hard workouts and the rest steady state would work fine for cycling.
Age 52....Weight 61 Kg....
Row 26 Aug 21 to Mar 22. Cycle Mar 22 to Jun 24. Now mixing the 2.
2K 8.02.3 (23 Oct 21)...7.37.0(15 Mar 22)
5K 22.14 (2 Oct 21)
Resting HR 45 (was 48 in 2021)....Max HR (Seen) 182 [185 cycling]

Just double the distances in the Pete plan for the bike. I just got the bike a couple of weeks ago. It's great.
59m, 5'6" 160lbs, rowing and skiing (pseudo) on the Big Island of Hawaii.

For steady state on the rower I was aiming for 22s/m. Is there a cadence I should shoot for with the BikeErg?

Go with what seems comfortable. Folks vary a lot with cycling cadence.

Remamber you'll need to adjust the drag(as in like a bike gear) to suit your preferred cadence/power and not leave it at one setting like the rower,

Yeah. Only had it for about two days now and I'm trying to find the sweet spot for myself. Also considering getting those toe clips from C2.
