Used Bike Erg

Post by Cinskip » December 19th, 2022, 3:26 am

Hoping someone can weigh in here. I am currently tossing up between a new bike erg and a used one. There’s a significant cost difference between the two but am slightly concerned about the age of the second hand one. I’ve asked the seller and there’s no warranty left and the logbook details for it are below. Obviously it’s quite subjective and we cant tell on actual condition (it’s been used for home use as opposed to gym) but what are peoples opinions on these kind of stats for a second hand bike?
Thank you!

I have 111h and 190 sessions on my rower looking into my logbook. Few more from my wife, but nothing worth to add.
11 month in use, condition like new. I assume this applies also to this bike.

I bought a new bikeerg in November, and it has almost a million meters on it already. 2+ million meters is not a whole lot. (My model C has 13+ million meters and has never given me a problem, my model B has significantly more and has never given me a problem). I can't imagine what kind of potential abuse someone could subject a bikeerg to, as opposed to a rowerg, which can get damaged by letting the handle fly back to the wheel unrestrained, for example.

I'd go look at the machine, but C2 makes bulletproof products in my experience, and if the price is that much better, I'd go for it.
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

I have a 2-year-old BikeErg that my wife and I have put 6+ million metres on (three times the one you're looking at) and it works fine. No maintenance required.

I have a 2 year 4 month old Bikeerg and have put about 28 million metres on it - this is mine, not a gym version..

It doesn't really require any maintenance and is running as well as the day I bought it.

The only thing that doesn't look as new on it is where I've sweated so much the pedals have started rusting (despite wiping it after each session), and sweat is corrosive!
