BikeErg . Clacking noise, area; bottom bracket / crank arms
Clacking noise per revolution from the area bottom bracket / crank arms.
Today during a light TV ride on the BikeErg heard disturbing clacking noises! Not constantly during the whole ride (1 hour), but "only" 3 x times, each for about 30 to 60 seconds.
* One cracking noise per complete revolution.
* Only when pressure is applied to the pedals.
* Not reproducible
---
* Provisionally checked all external screws including pedals, everything is tight.
Any experience of this type of problem, suggested solutions?
Thanks in advance

Yep. Very common fault unfortunately. Had it happen on multiple BikeErg’s. Contact C2 and they will suggest a couple of fixes. If these don’t work then you can get a replacement front end on warranty.

Unfortunately, so far no reaction / response from C2 Germany to my mail of February 2. As a proud owner of a Rower & BikeErg somewhat disappointed.
I hope that my second request is heard.

I had a similar issue earlier this week.
It turns out the left pedal ball bearings broke.
It’s still under warranty, but I opted for a replacement of mine rather than the cheap Jendel stock pedals.

Thanks for sharing, will change the pedals from my stock, maybe it is also for me the solution. I will report
Had these noises 3-4 more times, only for 10-20 seconds at a time. I hate this kind of errors!
Unfortunately, I still have not received an answer from concept2 Germany, not even my 2nd mail. I'm a little disappointed, so the SkiErg is crossed off my wish list.

Write to info@concept2.com and let them know that the German support function is not meeting the American company's quality level.Lufttrampler wrote: ↑March 4th, 2022, 10:58 amUnfortunately, I still have not received an answer from concept2 Germany, not even my 2nd mail. Today once again used the BikeErg. Replacing the pedals has unfortunately brought no success.
In between again noises for a few revolutions. Fascinating that the error does not occur constantly.

Re: BikeErg . Clacking noise, area; bottom bracket / crank arms
Interesting, with mine it was the left pedal ball bearings also. I couldn't replace the just the pedal because it was sweat-rusted in place so C2 sent me a whole new crank arm. I put on some high quality SPD pedals and it's been working fine ever since.
I have noticed that my BikeErg makes cranky noises from the front if I don't clean out the fan. We have a dog (Samoyed) who sheds pretty much constantly and that hair gets sucked into the fan housing no matter what I do. Just a thought.

Re: BikeErg . Clacking noise, area; bottom bracket / crank arms
Today I could capture the noise by video! The noise occurred more often and louder than before.
Could record 2 short videos. Original pedals I had exchanged a short time ago extra, against old Shimano SPD pedals. Thus I could narrow down the error on the left side! (air rotor side)
Here are the links to the mp4 videos
1. Flat pedal side 40,2 MB
https://noinbox.de/video/noise_bikeerg_flat.mp4
2. SPD pedal side 36,5 MB
https://noinbox.de/video/noise_bikeerg_spd.mp4 36,5 MB
One foot at a time, so I could determine the left side was the culprit.
Maybe someone can see if they have had the exact same error.
Does not sound healthy! Maybe someone from C2 is also reading the forum here.

There isn't, they don't regularly follow the forum. You need to write an email to info@concept2.comLufttrampler wrote: ↑March 19th, 2022, 4:25 pm

I had the same problem. Try to tighten the crank arms as much as possible.
