Pm5 periodically doesn't start

Post by johnlvs2run » March 13th, 2021, 12:26 am

This morning I was going for 5 minutes then looked at the monitor and it hadn't started, which has happened a half dozen times the past month, so I've probably lost about 10k in meters at this point. The battery's about 20 months old but still at 88 percent, which shouldn't affect the starting anyway. I'm concerned about it stopping during a workout or time trial.

I usually check the monitor when it first comes on, so it's possible that the monitor went off after starting but I'm not sure about that.
What could be causing the monitor to not come on when it should, and how can this be remedied?

Is that on a rowerg or a bikeerg?

It has to have a signal from the sensor(s) to start automatically and to stay fired up, as well as voltage. Maybe someone pulled a plug, if Occam is to be believed.

This has happened before and after moving the BikeE in my car to a different location.
The plug has been and is pushed all the way into the pm5 quite securely, so I don't know why this happens.

Take the cover off and swap the two batteries with each other.
Pull the sensor cable and re-insert it. You may want to spray the sensor's TRS plug and jack with a bit of Deoxit (or other contact cleaner).

Done. Thank you! Hopefully this will resolve it.
