Cheers Dougie, C2Scott if you're lurking -- all of a sudden I've started getting the 'sensor wire may be damaged' error code when powering up the monitor. I'm going to assume it's a firmware issue as discussed in this thread viewtopic.php?p=417663#p417663

I'm theoretically up to date firmware-wise. FWIW, taking the batteries (61%) out and then putting them back in seems to make the error code disappear. But it reappears intermittently when I power up the monitor. Is it possible that some Bluetooth/ErgData issue might be behind the bug? I haven't noticed it when doing workouts w/o an ErgData connection. but the sample size is way too small to be worth much....

You're up to date and the Bikeerg doesn't suffer from the battery compartment door problem, so you may want to write to info@concept2.com and ask them.

You seem very confident that it is a bug.

In my case (RowErg), it wasn't. I found a broken connection between the jack plug and one of the conductors in the cable.

My problem came after having moved the Erg around and having folded the monitor arm, which apparently put some stress on the cable. I don't know the arm arrangement of the BikeErg, but could something similar have happened for you?

The erg has been moved one time, maybe 6 feet horizontally, in the last 7 months, and the monitor arm doesn't get folded. Visual inspection of the cable reveals no pinch points. Plus it works just fine - for one session - if I remove/replace the batteries w/o moving anything else.

Update: no problems whatsoever since I posted the above. I may never know what caused the error message....

It's usually stray neutrinos from excessive sunspot activity. This year that's amplified by comet Neowise. Next month we can blame the forth coming Persids shower.
